ABSTRACT

There has been rapid progress in local government websites, especially in terms of services provision and resident engagement. The assessment of local government websites can help to ameliorate effectiveness of municipality services and be used as a mechanism to understand the critical needs of residents. To this end, our research is focused on assessing features of local e-Government development in some of the largest cities worldwide based on their responses to a questionnaire. The findings are discussed suggesting possible ways to improve the level of local e-Government development. An examination of responses for 42 cities reveals that e-Government is prominently practiced. The results indicate that local governments organise their web presence and service provision applying a variety of e-Government strategies based on their needs and priorities. They mainly align with the national legislation covering e-Government regulations. Online services provision, usage and citizens' satisfaction need more systematisation. Social media platforms are tools with an increasing application perspective, especially in residents' engagement in decision-making. COVID-19 initiatives provided a pathway on how to apply technologies, in a relatively short time period, facing critical situations. Emerging technologies provide tools that can be used to solve critical urban problems. Finally, the present study contributes towards an ongoing discussion for the development of a common worldwide assessment scheme that would measure the level and sophistication of local government digital development. © 2022 ACM.

ABSTRACT

Introduction: Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is a syndrome of acute respiration that is serious like corona acid ribonucleic detected, made separation and identification in pneumonia sick patients in Wuhan, China in December 2019 (WHO, 2020). Timor-Leste on May 1, 2020, 24 cumulative cases was confirmed, 16 cases recovered, 12 cases are still being treated, and 12 patients experienced psychological pressure from patients and health professional. This study aimed to determine the knowledge of nurses;nursing service and the psychological influence of nurses after providing care for Covid-19 patients. Method: Qualitative research with a phenomenological approach has been used in this study, ten nurses who have worked serving Covid-19 patients participated in this study, and data was collected using interview guidelines, voice recorder, deep-interview, data analysis techniques by organizing data, grouping, categorical data, topic and answer formulation, data assessment and writing the results. Result: The majority of nurses understand and apply Covid-19 prevention, but some are confused the cause. Have not carried out nursing care according to the standards of the International Counsel of Nursing (ICN) and the Timor-Leste Nursing Association, as (assessment, diagnosis, intervention, implementation, and nursing evaluation), reasoned: new job, no format, less manpower, no orientation from senior, emergency time. The majority experienced psychological effects after providing care to the Covid-19 patient. Conclusion: This study concluded that nurses understand Covid-19, the nursing care implementation is not yet based on ICN and ETNA standards and after returning home the nurses experienced psychological effects. © 2022, Sanglah General Hospital. ABSTRACT

Introduction: Sleep is characterized as a condition of physical and mental rest, in which the person ignores everything going on around him. There is a scientifically proven association between sleep deprivation and unhealthy eating habits, increasing cases of emotional and uncontrolled eating leading to malnutrition. In addition, a bad night's sleep has been associated with worsening mental health, especially in times of pandemic. Objective: In light of the above, this study aimed to report the experience and stimulate reflection about the results of a poll shared on the social network Instagram with the objective of analyzing the quality of sleep of students at a public higher education institution during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Methods: This is an experience report of the extension group “Sleep and Food in times of Pandemic”, composed of students of nursing, nutrition, medicine and mathematics of a public institution of higher education. The group, through its profile on the social network Instagram, shared a sleep satisfaction scale, where users reported in posts according to the condition of their sleep on a scale between good and bad. The scale was made available publicly and online, so the answers were freely accessible to everyone who followed the group's profile. Results: The project had a large significant reach of participants, since the present was observed through the social media of we can mention Instagram e Facebook, that is, an average of 600 posts observed, of these, 34.5% of students reported having a good night's sleep during the pandemic, while 65.5% responded by pointing out a bad night's sleep. Sleep deprivation is inversely related to the regulation of the circadian cycle, is associated with neuroendocrine and metabolic functions, such as reduced leptin and increased ghrelin, increasing appetite and food intake. In parallel to this, individuals in this stressful situation tend to consume foods that are pleasing to the palate, which usually contain higher amounts of sugar and/or fat, because they serve as comfort for the stress they are going through, but may contribute to the risk of developing obesity, insulin resistance, and cardiovascular disease. Conclusion: Some protective factors can help in this change, such as maintaining a daily routine, practicing physical activity, following a dietary pattern and taking care of sleep hygiene. Finally, we emphasize the need for more studies with a more rigid methodological content.

ABSTRACT

Lemierre's syndrome refers to infectious thrombophlebitis of the internal jugular vein developed as complication of an oropharyngeal infection. It is a rare syndrome, affecting otherwise healthy young adults, which may lead to sepsis complicated by septic embolization. Although there is a characteristic clinical picture, many modern physicians are unaware of this syndrome, leading it to be termed 'the forgotten disease'. The authors report a case of late diagnosis due to initial suspicion of COVID-19 and highlight the pitfalls on its diagnosis.

ABSTRACT

WHO declared Covid-19 pandemic in early 2020 and while rapid tests kits (RTKs) were developed quickly, the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus continues to be a concern. In this scenario as a tentative of mass testing and prevent the collapse in the health system some countries decided to use the community pharmacist for testing. Unfortunately, despite the public's faith in these practitioners, there is no specific guide material for them, so they had to learn through their own day-to-day experiences and nearly a year after there is still no clear guidance material for them. This protocol was created throughout adaptations from guide materials for laboratories from Brazil, India, UK, USA, Canada, Australia, WHO and personal experiences. Differences in RTKs conducted, how to screen for the most suitable examination, a proper anamnesis, how to perform the tests correctively, biosafety are all new concepts placed in this protocol as these are the key concerns that these experts have when they were assigned this new and vital job. During the pandemic pharmacists are showing their major importance in combating this world public health crises as performing tests, be first and last place where population seeks for guidance and treatment and now in vaccination.

ABSTRACT

Purpose: This study investigated the impact of the virtualization requirements of the learning process on students' satisfaction and their intention to continue using online learning. Design/methodology/approach: A research model was developed using the process virtualization theory (PVT);it was validated empirically using data obtained from an online questionnaire-based survey of 489 undergraduate students. Findings: The main results support the role of representation for sensory requirements, sensory requirements, reach, representation for relationship requirements and relationship requirements on shaping students' satisfaction, which all also have a significant influence on students' intention to continue using online learning. Relevance factors are responsible for 61.6% of the variance in students' satisfaction and 83.6% of the variance in their intention to continue using online learning. However, neither the synchronism requirements nor the identification and control requirements had a significant effect on students' satisfaction or on their intention to continue using online learning. Originality/value: The present research focused on PVT in an online learning context;consequently, a new set of factors that influenced students' satisfaction with and intentions to continue using online learning was empirically tested for the first time. This research contributes to the literature on information systems because it advances the generalizability and applicability of the PVT in a new context and new cultural setting. Moreover, the research apprises researchers and practitioners of new factors, which should be understood and fulfilled to make virtual learning equivalent to the face-to-face learning experience. © 2021, Emerald Publishing Limited.

ABSTRACT

Introduction Lemierre's syndrome (LS) refers to infectious thrombophlebitis of the internal jugular vein (IJV) developed as a complication of an oropharyngeal infection. It is a serious condition which may lead to septicemia and septic embolization. LS is most frequently caused by the anaerobic Fusobacterium necrophorum. In the current post-antibiotic era, it is rare (annual incidence of 0.8 cases/million). Many clinicians are unaware of LS, leading it to be termed "the forgotten disease." Signs and symptoms include odynophagia, fever and easy fatigue simulating, among others, infection by COVID-19. Broad spectrum antibiotherapy should be started promptly. If a deep abscess is present, drainage is indicated. In cases of persistent sepsis or embolization, surgical ligation/excision of the IJV may be considered. Currently, the most controversial role in LS management is anticoagulation. Compared with pre-antibiotic era mortality has much improved (0-18%). Since 2004 there are only four cases of LS reported in Portugal (Medline).
